MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID
Mental Health First Aid Course
The Standard Mental Health First Aid course will teach you how to provide initial support to other adults who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence based Action Plan. This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

About 1 in 5 Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training will teach you practical skills to support someone with a mental health problem. Make a real difference to people in your community.
MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS COVERED
• Depression • Anxiety problems • Psychosis • Substance use problems
Mental health crises covered • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours • Non-suicidal self-injury • Panic attacks • Traumatic events • Severe psychotic states • Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use • Aggressive behaviours.

DURATION - 12 hour course over 2 days or 4 nights

Blended Online MHFA Course
DURATION - Self-paced eLearning (5-7 hours), followed by 2 x 2.5-hour online sessions
Refresher MHFA - Online
DURATION - 5 Hours
Training for current and Accredited MHFAiders to stay up to date with mental health first aid knowledge, skills and information.
